Hello Parents,
Parents, please be aware that this blog site is for your benefit and isn't intended to be viewed by your student. We don't want to spoil the discovery of learning!
Important Dates:
- TOMORROW - Friday, August 1st - first day of school & full day
- Wednesday, August 13th - Curriculum Night 6:30-8pm - parent only event
We are prepped & ready to welcome your students for our first day of school tomorrow. Students will have their first music & art class, enjoy recess with new & old friends, learn classroom procedures & do a little bit of academic work! Drop off starts at 7:40 and the bell rings at 8:00am. We asked for extended patience during pick up & drop off tomorrow & the next few days as families & students establish routines and learn the ropes to navigating our teeny tiny parking lot.
Please send a lunch & snack as it is a full day. New to 2nd grade is making sure those shirts are tucked in WITH a belt for pants/shorts. We will offer reminders, but we appreciate at home reminders as well.
Your child's homework for tomorrow is to get their agenda signed (plus they're always encouraged to read). Please sign/initial your child's agenda; we will be building upon that next week with the addition of academic homework beginning on Monday.
If you didn't bring your child's supplies at Meet the Teacher, you can send them in your child's backpack or leave them at the front office. Thanks for helping us gather all requested items.
Please send The Boxcar Children with your child this week if you have not done so already. We will start reading the book on Monday, August 11th. All other literature books can stay at home for now until we're ready to read them in the classroom.
We will be storing the 2B blue & green math books in the class for when we'll need them in January. Please return those if you took them home.
If you haven't paid for the school consumables yet, please order them through Configio (link to right) if you haven't or contact the front office as soon as possible. We will begin using the math books in class & homework beginning on Monday, August 11th.
Please send a silent/independent reading book that your scholar can read both at home & at school. Our reading bags won't begin for a week or so.
Curriculum Night: Wednesday, August 13th, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm.
We would love to have you join us to discuss your child's upcoming year of learning. Curriculum Night will begin in the Archway MPR (multi-purpose room). Afterwards, you will join your child's teacher in her classroom for some information about our curriculum, parent and student expectations, and classroom procedures. A lot of information is given on Curriculum Night so please make plans to attend.
