Hello Parents! 

Thank you for your time and commitment to your scholar, your partnership is truly essential, and we thank you for that! We enjoyed sharing your child's progress and setting goals for the next quarter. Please read on for more information about the learning to come! 


If your scholar will be absent, please communicate that with your scholar's teacher and notify the attendance off at: attendance@archwaychandler.org


Please have your scholar bring: Cricket in Times Square on Monday, October 30th, and please sign up for reading groups if possible.


Scholars have received their next poem: "The Cow" which is due October 30th.


Important Dates:

  • *"The Cow" recitations begin 10/30

Conversation Prompts: 
What is 17-5? Which strategy did you use to find your answer? 

What happened in the fairy tale, The Little Mermaid? 

How do insects hear and see? 

Which country in Asia are you studying now? 


Academics 

Math: We have begun our next unit on subtraction. Next week, we will review subtraction strategies and facts within 20 which will help students prepare for the standard algorithm. 


Science: We have begun our unit on insects. Students will learn how insects see, feel, taste, hear, and touch the world around them. 


Grammar: Students have been introduced to using a comma in a series. We will continue to practice using the comma when writing out a list in a sentence.
 
History: Students are learning about ancient China. They will review the content that we have studied before taking a quiz over the unit on Friday and. we will celebrate this unit on Friday, October 27th. 
 
Literature: We will begin reading The Cricket in Times Square, please ensure your child has a copy on

Monday. Students will review the terms-setting and characters. They will also compare and contrast a cricket's sound to classical music.Don't forget to sign up for reading groups, thank you!
