Reminder:

Reading Logs: Students receive their reading homework grade from the reading logs turned in on Fridays. A parent or adult must sign each day and indicate the number of minutes read. If your scholar does not turn it in when it is due, please have them turn it in the next school day to receive half credit. Diligence with reading logs is an important skill to learn as it carries over to 3rd grade.

Academics:

Math: Students will review types of graphs and take a test covering data analysis on Thursday. Our next unit will cover geometry and students will start by recalling different shapes and reviewing 2-D shapes.

Spalding: We will have a normal week of Spalding words. Scholars will now have 6 words in cursive each day for a total of 18 words that will be written in cursive.

History: Scholars will fill out a study guide on Monday and take their Civil War assessment on Wednesday. On Friday, students will being their next unit on Immigration / Citizenship.

Science: This week we will learn about pulleys and review the Scientific Method.

Grammar:  Scholars will write a summary and complete copy work from our study of the Civil War. Scholars will review Grammar concepts such as: Direct / Indirect Quotations, Interjections, Types of Sentences, and Synonyms and Antonyms. Students will also learn the rules for making singular nouns plural. Students will receive their final poem of the year, "Lincoln." Poem recitations will be the week of May 13th.

Literature: We will continue reading Charlotte’s Web with chapters 11-15. Scholars will write a newspaper article and identify talents of the characters in the book and learn about personification.
