Hello, parents and guardians.
Important Dates:
Monday, March 3rd: Multiplication Check Up
Thursday, March 6th: Field Day - Snacks (Goldfish crackers and fruit snacks) and bottled water will be provided for the students by the PSO on this day. Please send your child with their regular water bottle which will remain in the classroom. If you prefer to send a snack with your child in lieu of the provided snack, please let your child's teacher know. Thank you.
Friday, March 7th: Half Day / dismissal at 12:30 pm
March 10 -14: Spring Break / School resumes on Monday, March 17th, as we begin the 4th quarter!
Thursday, March 13th: Human Body Test

Academics:
Grammar: Scholars will write the final draft of their Oregon Trail paragraph and then begin to learn about adverbs and their usage. Scholars will distinguish between words that are adjectives and words that are adverbs.
Literature: Scholars will finish reading Little House in the Big Woods and review the characters that we have read about. We will discuss the virtues that were attributed with each character and compare them to each other. Scholars will also discuss what lessons that we have learned regarding the characters and the way of living as compared to ours today.
History: We will finish our study of Westward Expansion next week! When we return from the break, we will begin our unit on the Civil War.
Science: Next week, scholars will learn about the large intestine and the role it plays in the digestive system. On Thursday, we will learn about building healthy meals!
Spalding: There will not be new spelling words this week, but scholars will have cursive practice homework.
Math: This week, students learned that multiplication is repeated addition or skip counting. Next, they will learn how to talk about multiplication as equal groups and write multiplication equations. They will spend some time reviewing what they have learned and practice multiplying by 2, 3, and 4. They will have a quiz on Monday, March 3rd.
